alright, sisters. it is time to start this back up again.
time for mostly mundane life updates: getting back from thanksgiving break was tough. it was so good to see you all over the break, but i was still exhausted, sick, and emotional upon my return. it only took a couple of days to get back into the swing of school, though. everything was winding down, getting ready for exam week. (this week.)
last weekend was pretty busy, with multiple events every day. friday night i went to happy hour with bree and molly, and then molly and i came back to school to watch the basketball tip-off tournament. saturday i had brunch with dan at ted's bulletin (beer-batter biscuits - mary, you jealous), which was actually really very good. we were able to catch each other up on how we've been (he's doing an incredible internship in nyc and living in brooklyn) and it was all very normal and that was a really big deal for me. that evening was troy's birthday party at mazu (well, what used to be mazu.) mary, you can imagine what this was like. i have some pretty stellar pictures of the decorations of troy's face that courtney put up all over the restaurant. best quote of the evening (by an intoxicated 22-year-old partygoer, referring to me after i tried multiple times to escape talking to him): "she's nice to look at, but she's NOT nice to talk to." sunday i got to go ice skating in the national sculpture garden with molly, stephanie, courtney, and troy, which was great! it was the last weekend of good weather - sunny, but not too cold. that evening i went to see shona's masters' horn recital. she played the most incredible mozart quintet - becky, you would DIE to hear how hard it was. seriously put me to shame.
last week was a blur of exam review for students, and then binu came in town on friday. i had dinner with binu and meg at good stuff friday night, and we talked and caught each other up on life. saturday was busy with party preparations, because courtney and i had our annual christmas party that night. (troy co-hosted this year, so it was even more ridiculous than last year.) sunday binu and i got brunch with courtney, molly, and troy, and then shopped in georgetown and at the downtown holiday market. i got you all some cute christmas presents! :)
now it's exam week... a pretty chill one for the teachers, but i really have so much to be doing to get ready for next semester. i'm excited to see you all in only another week!
lovelove,
biggest sis.

day off relaxation.
Hey dears. This morning I slept in, and made myself my classic favorite breakfast. I wanted to share it here, because Rachel I know you've said before "Mary keep a blog of what you cook", and Becky I know you want to learn a thing or two in the kitchen. So this is really so easy, and I mix it up based on what kind of veggies or cheese I have on hand. (A really good combo is tomato, onion, and spinach in the egg scramble with goat cheese on the toast)
Arugula & onion egg scrambler on brie toast
2 eggs
1/2 cup arugula
1/4 chopped red onion
1 slice of toast(I used Tuscan bread that they slice for you in the grocery)
thin slices of brie cheese to toast on top of bread
minced garlic
sea salt, pepper to taste
(optional: 1/3 cup milk to make the eggs fluffier)
Put a pan on the stove at medium heat (5, 6) with a little olive oil. Add the garlic, arugula, and chopped red onion and let those cook until arugula wilts and onion looks soft/almost caramelized. In a bowl, crack 2 eggs and whisk together quickly (with milk if desired). When the veggies look ready, pour the eggs over the veggies and don't touch (just let the egg spread around the veggies). Using a toaster oven (or if you're ghetto like me turn the oven onto broil), toast the bread and brie until your desired crispiness of toast/meltiness of cheese haha. Using a spatula, flip the eggs over (if doesn't matter if it breaks apart some). Sprinkle with sea salt and pepper to bring out the flavor. When toast is ready, place on a place and then lay the egg scramble atop the toast. Easy! Delicious.
Enjoy with coffee for best results, haha.
So today I am off of work, and I intend to impersonate Rachel and go to her apartment pool. I guess I should get up and start my day, but I'm enjoying relaxing and drinking coffee and listening to Cults. Have you guys heard them? They're light and summery and they're album comes out at the end of June.
Check 'em out.
I love y'all and hope you have fun altogether in Brentwood. Make yummy food together and blog about it to me!

Happy Easter!
Happy Easter sisters! My post is going to start out as Mary's last one, which is I also woke up at 5 am this morning. After 4 hours of sleep I got up to go to the sunrise service with Mads and Grace. Then we went back to my friend David's house and celebrated there. They made us brunch, we had an easter egg hunt, and it was so much fun and so nice to be able to spend Easter at a home, with a family, and with tons of people around. Yesterday Mads, Steph, and I dyed Easter eggs, which was tons of fun. My right hand however fell victim to the blue egg dye... it was interesting shaking about 30 hands today as I met people. Oops. This week is my last week of classes, which is pretty bizarre. I am looking forward to being home soon though, I miss it. Pray for me in getting my summer plans straightened away. And also for my finals a week and a half from now. I love you all!

Let's do this (again).
Waddup waddup.
So Rachel made an excellente point that we should reignite our little blog. So here goes.
It's lovely weather (finally!) here in DC. Right now I am sitting on the back porch drinking a beverage and enjoying the weather with Whit. I have been up since 5 am this morning. My community group began a monthly service project with Christ House- a housing and healthcare establishment in Adams Morgan that serves the homeless and terminally ill. It is incredible. We bought groceries to make breakfast and serve 80 or so residents. It was our first run with doing it, and it was a lot of fun.
This Friday, Al and I threw a grill out Southern shindig for Whitney, who's moving back down to Athens soon. Rae was present, along with a lot of Whit's coworkers and some church frands. We grilled burgers and hotdogs, had baked beans, southern mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, deviled eggs, tipsy tea, and banana pudding. So good.
Next weekend, I am stoked about driving down to Athens for Olivia's exit show from the art school. I am so esiteddd I really can't wait to see all my old places and hang out with friends still down there. We are driving down Thursday night, and we are going to stay with Aunt Betty! I'm happy to see her for a short bit.
Still makes me die.
Well I love y'all bunches and I think we should def. get this thing up and running again. Truth.
